LKWD 102: Sailing Basics - SPRING 2024

This series of four lessons will take you through the basics of sailing small boats. Instruction will happen on shore and out on the Lake aboard WWU’s fleet of 14-foot trainer dinghies. After attending all four lessons, most students will have sufficient expertise to continue to sail at Lakewood (for FREE!) and progress their skills independently or with friends. 

No prior sailing or water experience required!

Transportation Info:

Weekday lessons: A free van carpool to/from campus is available. Once registered for a session, students should email lakewood@wwu.edu in order to secure a spot on the shuttle. Space is limited to the first eight (8) requests. Meet at the Outdoor Center by 4:15p – students will be dropped off by 7:45p.

Weekend lessons: WTA Route 512 leaves from the downtown Bellingham station @ 10:40a and arrives at Lakewood by 11:05a

Cost: $40

Registration: Registration for all sessions opens April 2nd at 10am. Link above.

Schedule: Lessons occur either Tues/Thurs for two weeks or Sat/Sun for two weekends
