Description

Session Description: The WWU Coalition of Community Engaged Programs presents an overview of how to be involved in local community initiatives and service to tackle a variety of social, cultural, environmental and economic issues. We discuss how students, through our programs, will partner with the civic and community groups and leaders focused on the challenges of our times. A new co-curricular certificate for leadership & community engagement outlines an intentional journey on which students can embark, if they choose. This is also in addition to many service-learning opportunities that are embedded in courses. The WWU programs represented include the VU Leadership & Community Engagement Center (formerly LEADS), the Center for Community Learning, the Sustainable Communities Program (Office of Sustainability), Teaching-Learning Academy, and Woodring’s Learning in Communities and Schools (LinCS) Office and Compass 2 Campus Program. Students and families leave with access to a link where they can find all the information presented, including contact names, email addresses, website addresses for each program.
