The Fall Family Weekend Schedule of Events is Now Open to Explore!
Whether you’re a student in your first year or fourth, there’s something for everyone! All Fall Family Weekend (FFW) events are free or ticketed at a special FFW rate. Ticketed events sell out quickly each year, so we recommend you review the Fall Family Weekend website for event details, dates and times, and links to purchase event tickets in advance!
No family visiting for the weekend? No problem! Grab a roommate, new friend, mentor, guardian, distant relative or friend of the family and explore, connect, have fun and be inspired with those who are family to you!
Check out great on-campus events like our Family Resource Info Fair, presentations from Career Services, Education Abroad, Tutoring Center, and Student Health Center, and Intergenerational Viking Reception. Tour campus, facilities, departments, research and teaching labs, WWU Racing, the Outback Farm, the Western Gallery exhibitions, and Western’s renowned outdoor sculpture collection.
Explore our local lakes, forests, and trails with several outdoor excursions, featuring guided canoeing and sailing, and free paddle craft rentals on Lakewood, guided bike tours of Bellingham, hikes in the WWU Arboretum with the Outdoor Center and even a trail building party on Galbraith Mountain with WMBC and the AIROW Project.
Younger family members coming to visit? You can carve pumpkins and roast pumpkin seeds in the Res Halls, enjoy the first film of a spooky Halloween double feature in Old Main Theatre, or enjoy a seasonal story time together during the Fall Family Picture Book Read Aloud in their Pacific Northwest Children's Literature Clearinghouse in Miller Hall.
Don't miss this year’s fantastic and fun FFW special ticketed events (prices vary by event), including live performances presented by the College of Fine and Performing Arts, featuring a student production of Hay Fever as well as a concert by Russian pianist, Mikhail Voskresensky. You can also catch live comedy improv shows at the Upfront Theatre as well as on campus with Western's own Dead Parrot Society. Join the Blue Crew out at Harrington Field as our Viking's Men's Soccer team take on Northwest Nazarene (free admission with WWU student ID). There's also multiple Planetarium shows, Downtown and Fairhaven Gore & Lore walking tours, and exciting MegaZapper Shows from which to choose!
Please continue to visit the Fall Family Weekend website for the entire schedule of ticketed and non-ticketed events and activities, as well as continued additions to the schedule, special offers, important details about parking, transportation and accommodations, and what to know before you go.
