Description

We have several new tours available highlighting stories of place and community.  These tours are free and open to anyone in the community, so please share this invitation widely. Register for any of these offerings at Engaging Places Tours. After you've submitted the form, we will send you a Google Calendar invitation confirming availability for your selected tour. Space is limited, so don’t delay. 

 

“A Changing Waterfront- the past, present, and future of the Bellingham Waterfront” Tour

 

Biking Tour: Thursday, October 14th 3:00 - 4:15 PM

(2.5 mile, flat, biking tour of the Bellingham Bay. We will meet at Zuanich Point Park Boathouse)

Walking Tour: Tuesday, November 2nd 3:30PM - 4:45 PM

(1/2 mile walking tour of Bellingham Bay. We will meet at Waypoint Park.)

 

Join a walking or biking tour of the Bellingham Bay, led by staff from Re-Sources. We will discuss the pre-colonial and industrial history of Bellingham Bay and the cleanup process for restoring the 12 legacy contaminated sites on our waterfront.  We will also discuss what our City might shape up to look like in the future as we reimagine a new waterfront for our community and how you can influence this transformation.

Walking Tour: Friday, October 8th at 3:00pm

 

Walking Tour: Friday, October 22nd at 10:00am 

 

The tours cover a ~1-mile loop near the mouth of Whatcom Creek. It begins at the Centennial Pole at the entrance to the Whatcom County Courthouse (corner of Grand and Lottie).

 

Join in a free in-person small group tour focusing on the evolution of Bellingham’s waterfront and industries from the 1850s to present, with a particular focus on the ways that racism and white supremacy have shaped the community and region.
