Description
Sept 29th
3:30-5:30pm
Bellingham History Bike Ride
The history ride will start at the Outdoor Center at Viking Union 150. Participants will then ride downtown where everyone will lock their bikes. The tour will start at Trackside, and will make its way throughout the Lettered Streets, and Central Business District. The tour will be guided by local historian Kolby LaBree and will be focused on the histories of marginalized groups in Bellingham, covering everything from environmental degradation to Bellingham’s historical Japan town.
If you have a bike please bring it, if not bikes and helmets will be provided to participants for free. Participants should bring water and expect to spend a couple of hours out in the sun. Please register for the event if you plan on coming so that we know how many bikes we will need.
Event participants will have the option of receiving a set of free rechargeable bike lights, a bike multi-tool, or a bike handpump.
For disability accommodations, questions, or requests please contact atc@wwu.edu at least one week before the class. For more information on transportation and biking at Western, visit our website.
As Part of BikeFest, we at Transportation Services want to get everyone biking. If you have ever wanted to learn more about Bellingham history, and take part in a group bike ride, this event is for you!
