American Sign Language Club
About
ASL Club provides a fun, inclusive environment for people to learn and practice their sign language skills. We like to play games and converse in ASL during club meetings. Our meetings are a voice-off environment, but all skill levels are welcome! Please reach out if you have any questions/concerns about accommodations or any club-related items.
Spring 2025 Meeting Information:
Our Spring 2025 meetings will be in person. We'll be meeting on Fridays from 3:00pm-4:00pm in VU 462A, unless otherwise specified. Our first meeting will be on Friday, 4/11. We may have some meetings this quarter where we aren't using this room, so make sure to join our email list for weekly reminders of where we're meeting!
Click JOIN in the top right corner of your screen to join our WIN mailing list and get updates on weekly meetings, events, and other info!
If you'd like to join our Discord server, Join Here! Please note that our WIN mailing list is our primary method of communication, and while official announcements may not always be posted to the server, they will always go out through the email list.
We welcome WWU students of all skill/fluency levels to join our meetings! However, we ask folks to understand that we are not a class. This club is a place to be exposed to and practice signing, though of course we may demonstrate simple things like fingerspelling and basic signs (yes, no, etc.). Our top recommendations for learning ASL are (1) classes from a qualified ASL teacher (such as WWU's classes!), and (2) viewing free online lessons from Dr. Bill Vicars.
