Collegiate Washington Music Educators Association
About
This is an active group for students interested in pursuing a career in music education. Members are able to attend meetings hosted by the official WWU CWMEA board under the guidance of Dr. Patty Bourne. To give you a taste of what our club is about, here are some of our favorite meeting topics from years past:
- Building Community in the PAC: drum circle night with discussion on the importance of connecting with the people around you and in your department)
- Professionalism: Every year we pick exceptional professors from the music staff to share with us their personal experiences as professional musicians and educators to get insider knowledge on a career in music!)
- Student Teaching: Here at the PAC we love our alumni! We are lucky enough to get to invite some of them back to share their experiences student teaching in all parts of Washington state. We get insight on real-life in the elementary, middle, and high school classrooms and curriculum.
Still not convinced? In addition to awesome meetings once a month, making new friends, and learning from Washington's best, members of our club get to attend the annual Music Education Conference, either the State or All Northwest Conference in February! Participants get to choose sessions to attend from an extensive list of events hosted by teachers all around the state and region. It is at this event that many of our club members find the musical avenue they would like to pursue, so if you don't know where to start, attending conference with WWU's CWMEA is the place to be!
