Students for Ecological Restoration
About
Our goal as a club is to spread awareness of ecological restoration opportunities to students in order to help support the work of local organizations. We are connected with local organizations and organize guest speakers such as Restoration Technicians, Outreach Coordinators, Directors, and Scientists for students to connect with and ask questions. This opens the avenue for students to learn more about the opportunities available to them outside of college, and can help someone create new connections.
We have bi-weekly club meetings where we host scientists and professionals involved in Ecological Restoration to come and speak to those who are interested, and enable participants to ask questions, connect, and learn more.
We also have the goal of organizing restoration work parties in the Sehome Arboretum, such as removing invasive English Ivy and planting native plants like Sword Fern and Snowberry, which will give students the chance to help lead restoration and get more involved right next to the Western Campus.
We are a student chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration. Free membership is included when you join our club. Students interested in learning more about SER, visit www.SER.org
