Waterski
About
We encourage shortline skiers, first-timers, and everyone in between to join Western Waterski and discover the collegiate waterski scene. If you want to see what that's like, watch this video. It was filmed at the National Tournament in California in 2019, where we placed 9th in D1 for the second year in a row and had a lot of fun doing it. During the fall and spring quarters, we practice slalom, trick, and jump at Lake Samish, Whatcom, and a private ski lake 15 minutes from campus called Bow Lake. Our team recently bought our own boat and have been able to do far more skiing with it than in the past. Take a look at one of our practice sites through this short edit put together by a few of our current members. We travel to lakes throughout the West Coast as well to compete during the spring and fall seasons, culminating with Nationals in October. Collegiate skiing is fun and inclusive regardless of ability level, and we do everything possible to make the sport accessible for our members. Team dues typically cost between $200-$300 per season and go towards boat gas, lake time, tournament entry fees, travel costs, and more. Check out our Instagram page @westernwaterski to see more about what we do, who we are, and why you should join the WWU Waterski team.
